Cobalt mining in the UK: A new frontier for battery supply

First Cobalt’s project seeks to leverage advances in recycling technologies to extract cobalt from used batteries, an increasingly important source of cobalt supply due to rising demand for EVs and energy storage. The initiative is also designed to be sustainable, using renewable energy sources and minimising the environmental impact of the recycling process.
The UK government has expressed support for this initiative as part of its Green Recovery Plan, which promotes investment in clean technologies and the construction of lithium-cobalt battery infrastructure. This scheme includes tax incentives and investment funding for projects that help reduce the carbon footprint and foster energy independence.
